Residents are experiencing new learning environments for independent digital learning: The Ernst Abbe Library is being transformed into a

smart and inclusive library for everyone. The Smart City initiative primarily supports the aspect of self-directed learning with and through digital applications in a modern learning environment. The new Ernst Abbe Library building and the Lobeda neighborhood library will become low-threshold, accessible, lifelong learning spaces where state-of-the-art technical equipment and digital offerings enable access and participation for all residents. Among other things, devices and assistive technologies for people with disabilities will be available to try out and borrow.
