Sub-initiative “Smart Neighborhood Jena-Lobeda”:
“Climate-Friendly Design of the Residential Environment”
The Smart Neighborhood is intended to offer its residents an attractive and livable environment that addresses current and future challenges of the urban climate and provides a wide range of ecological benefits.
Due to urban planning conditions, the neighborhood is currently exposed to higher levels of environmental stress, such as poor air quality, noise, and heat—problems that the project aims to address specifically. A modular, wall-mounted green facade will be installed on one of the residential buildings, which can be efficiently maintained through an automated irrigation system.
The goal of this initiative is to create a model for smart green facades in Jena that will pave the way for further greening projects on existing buildings, particularly those constructed using prefabricated concrete panel construction.
