Telemedicine applications are to be tested in the Smart Neighborhood Jena-Lobeda. To this end, a special room will be set up in one of the apartment blocks and equipped with appropriate medical and communication technology. The aim is to enable access to healthcare regardless of time and distance - an issue that is becoming increasingly important, particularly for people with limited mobility and in rural areas. The trial focuses primarily on necessary and practicable processes, structures, equipment features and legal framework conditions. Numerous relevant stakeholders, including doctors, health insurance companies, pharmacies, the university hospital and medical and nursing staff, will be involved. By summer 2027, the care format is to be developed to such an extent that it will serve as a transferable model in terms of economic viability, functionality and practicability. In addition, barriers and reservations are to be reduced and trust in new, digital technologies built up.

  • a feasibility study on the project has been prepared
  • the cooperation agreement with the municipal utilities for the project has been concluded
  • the telemedicine room has been set up
  • the first planned use case (facial nerve palsy patients) in cooperation with Jena University Hospital is underway
  • regular consultation hours for general medicine, surgery and dermatology are offered
