Measure "Smart Quarter Jena-Lobeda"

The measure is located in Jena-Lobeda, the largest district of Jena with around 22,500 inhabitants, which is mainly characterized by compactesentially characterized by the compact 5- to 11-storey GDR large-scale residential buildings. The "Smart Quarter Jena-Lobeda" is being built here in a residential complex with around 250 apartments in the immediate vicinity of the university hospital as a real laboratory and testing ground for new technologies and smart livingspace for new technologies and smart services. The comprehensive project has been underway since 2020 under the leadership of Stadtwerke Jena GmbH. The last of three construction phases is currently being completed. The buildings have been completely refurbished andequipped with various new elements. These include smart home equipment in all apartments, an intelligent logistics concept with parcel boxes, an on-site community management team as a point of contact for residents, a communal room and a laundry room in which residents can use the washing machinesand a washing machine room where the machines can be booked and paid for using an app.
Serviced apartments are also available: The individually equipped and fully furnished residential units offer newresidents of the city, students or guests a "temporary home". There are also plans to offer tenants the opportunity to install their own photovoltaic (PV) systems on their balconies and to install a PV system on the roofs of the buildingsbuilding roofs.
With the Smart City model project, further additional elements are to be developed and financed in cooperation with the municipal utilities as part of the overall "Smart Neighborhood" project: the establishment and operation of a telemedicine room and health apartmentsand health apartments as well as the climate-friendly upgrading of the residential environment. The overall project is to be developed in such a way that elements of it can be extended to other existing buildings and urban areas in the future.
