Declaration on accessibility
Legal basis
The City of Jena will make this website accessible in accordance with the national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council. This directive was implemented in Thuringia by the ThürBarrWebG of July 30, 2019. The ordinance implementing the ThürBarrWebG, which will soon come into force, refers to Art. 2 of BITV 2.0. Art. 2 of BITV 2.0 refers to harmonized standards with regard to the criteria for the accessible design of websites. Specifically, this is EN 301549, which refers to the success criteria for websites in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG 2.0). This accessibility statement is based on the self-assessments carried out in the form of the BITV/WCAG test and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0.
This declaration was reviewed on April 24, 2020.
Status of compliance with the requirements
The website and its functionality and form of presentation on common end devices are currently largely compatible with Directive (EU) 2016/2102 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. No BITV test has yet been carried out by third parties for the content listed. The "good accessibility" of jena.de is to be checked in an independent BITV test in the near future.
Still existing deficiencies and optimizations
There are still isolated deficiencies in the following content and technical aspects. Optimizations still need to be made, especially to older PDF documents. Some of this content is currently only accessible to a limited extent.
The jena.de website does not yet contain any information in easy language or sign language. The read-aloud function of personal screen readers is preferred, which is why the website does not offer this.
We endeavor to use language that is as simple as possible. This is not always possible due to the complexity of the content. Please let us know if you think a text is unnecessarily complicated.
We try to avoid the use of abbreviations as far as possible, or we use the unabridged spelling the first time it appears in the text and then use the abbreviation introduced in the rest of the text. Please let us know if you come across any abbreviations or technical terms in our website that require explanation.
