Code Week Thuringia 2026: Discover and Help Shape the Digital World

From October 5 to 25, Code Week Thuringia once again invites children and teens to program, tinker, and experiment. In Jena, too, there will be numerous opportunities to creatively explore digital technologies and bring their own ideas to life.

How does a robot work? What can be created with artificial intelligence? How do you make your own game—and what does it actually take to not just use technology, but to help shape it yourself?

That’s exactly what Code Week Thuringia 2026 is all about. Under the motto “Let’s do it!”, everything from October 5 to 25 will revolve around digital education, creativity, and the fun of experimenting together.

Hands-On Digital Education

Code Week is aimed at children and teens and shows just how diverse digital skills can be. It’s about much more than just traditional programming. Robotics, gaming, artificial intelligence, graphic design, media literacy, soldering, making, and creative experimentation with hardware and software are all part of it.

Workshops, vacation programs, classroom lessons, and open, hands-on activities provide low-barrier access to digital topics. At the heart of it all is a simple idea: try things out for yourself, understand them, and create—rather than just passively consuming technology.

Code Week is supported by a broad network spanning education, science, business, and civil society. In Thuringia, witelo e. V. and Jena Digital form the regional Code Week hub. Schools, libraries, universities, companies, clubs, youth centers, STEM learning centers, and other initiatives can participate by offering their own free activities.

In discussion: What digital skills do young people need?

In Jena, too, Code Week aims once again to provide a space for discussion on what digital education must achieve today and in the future.

During a panel discussion, stakeholders from various fields will engage in dialogue. The focus will be on questions surrounding digital skills, new technologies, and the conditions necessary for young people to actively shape the digital transformation on their own terms.

Participation is strongly encouraged

Code Week thrives on the people and organizations that contribute their own ideas. Anyone who wants to help children and teens explore digital topics can become part of the program themselves.

Your activity doesn’t have to be big or technically complex. What matters most is a good idea and a desire to create together. Whether it’s a coding workshop, a robotics activity, a media project, a summer camp, or a tinkering afternoon—all kinds of formats and topics are welcome.

Activities can already be submitted via the Code Week platform.
