Green Facades in Lobeda: Implementation Begins

From planning to implementation: The next important step toward the planned green facade project on Ziegesarstraße in Lobeda has been taken with a joint kick-off meeting.

Representatives from jenawohnen, the City of Jena’s Smart City project, and Local Agenda 21 met with the contracted companies, Zuber Beton from Crailsheim and Grünwand from Berlin. Both firms were awarded the contract in August following a public bidding process.

The meeting focused on getting to know one another, discussing technical details, and addressing open questions regarding the next steps. At the same time, the next steps in the project were coordinated. The foundation for the future green wall is scheduled to be laid this year in October and November. The actual installation of the green facade is planned for March and April 2027, respectively.

Planning for the project has been underway since September 2025. At that time, Diana Moraweck of Lokale Agenda 21 was commissioned to handle the planning. With this kick-off, the concrete construction phase of the smart city project is now beginning.
