Jena at the Smart Country Convention 2025: Smart impulses for digital administration

From September 30 to October 2, 2025, the Smart City Project Jena will be presenting itself at the Smart Country Convention (SCCON) in Berlin - one of the most important events for the digital future of cities and municipalities. With innovative projects, strong partnerships and practical solutions, Jena is part of the nationwide dialogue on administrative digitalization.

Three perspectives from Jena - three strong impulses

At SCCON, three experts from the Jena Smart City project will provide exciting insights into current developments and future topics:

Stefan Schwarz, sub-project manager in the Smart City Project Jena, will discuss on October 1 from 15:30 to 16:00 on the panel "Digitally united: municipal intelligence meets artificial intelligence". Together with Nicole Döpp (Project Manager Süderbrarup), he will present the multifunctional chat system - a system that combines AI and municipal infrastructure and thus opens up new possibilities for smart citizen communication. The focus is on the importance of inter-municipal cooperation and technological innovation for future-oriented administrative structures.

Dorothea Prell, overall project manager of the Smart City Jena project, will take part in a large panel discussion on municipal chat systems on September 30 at 11:00 am on the Forum Stage. She will be joined by Sabrina Donner, Head of the Lüchow-Dannenberg District Office, among others. The discussion will shed light on the opportunities, challenges and concrete experiences of using AI-supported communication in cities and districts. The key questions serve as a starting point for an open exchange - with the aim of learning from each other and thinking ahead together.

Martin Berger, sub-project manager in the Jena Smart City project, will contribute additional expertise on October 1: Together with Volker Brandt (City of Bamberg) and Mathias Renner (Civitas), he will be talking about the inter-municipal data platform CIVITAS CORE. The presentation is entitled "Inter-municipal software development for imitation and participation" and shows how open technologies can help cities to further develop their digital infrastructure sustainably and jointly.

Why the SCCON?

The Smart Country Convention 2025 brings together administrations, technology providers, science and politics. Digital experts, municipal representatives and decision-makers will meet on over 17,000 m² of exhibition space and seven stages to work together on the digital transformation of the public sector. In addition to panels and presentations, participants can expect practice-oriented workshops, further training opportunities and plenty of room for exchange.

This year, the Smart City Project Jena will not only be on site as a visitor, but also as an active driving force - with ideas, solutions and a clear message: digital administration needs bold projects, open standards and reliable partnerships.
